‘A’ TEAM ARE 2007/8 CHAMPIONS
KNUTSFORD FC A Team have won the Altrincham Premier League with two games to spare. The team did not even have to play to claim the title. On Saturday they had no fixture, so the side went to watch their only challengers King George take on Broadheath Central
The resulting 2-2 draw meant that, with two games to go for the A team, they had secured their first championship in a hugely competitive league.
The A team would have preferred to win it on the pitch and at Manchester Road in front of their terrific fans. But they will accept the title now and have promised their fans carnival-style football in the two remaining fixtures, both at home.

Having started the season without seven of the players who won the Senior Cup last season, a major rebuilding exercise was necessary. But maintaining the traditional football values and principles of the A
team has again delivered success. Which is based on local youth development and playing open, attractive and fluent football.
With five local players under 17 and new to open-age football, an average age of 21.6 years and 85 percent of the team made up of local players the community engagement and connection with the supporters has been better.
Scoring 74 goals in 18 game producing fluent, entertaining football that players want to play and the supporters want to watch can only be good for the Knutsford area.
The A team operates as an independent side for Knutsford Football Club and they are self-financing that produces challenges when selection can be disrupted by half term trips and half the team still at school.
The A Team would like to reach out to the local community for support and sponsorship and would like to strengthen the committee. The A Team represents and supports all that is best in football, develops and looks after local youths, follows the guidelines of the FA charter for grass-roots football, entertains and is successful. Its bosses this week thanked all of the sides fans and supporters for their continued loyalty and appreciation of the football delivered.
